What's new

Tackled the beast today

I went back to traditional single blades about 6 years ago. Like many on here, I quickly caught RAD, and in particular really liked the GEM razors, picking up a cog-pruf MM, Gem JR NOS and a G-bar. Tried as I might, I could not get the hang of them, as each shave was full of cuts, nicks and irritation. So in a drawer they went, for probably 4 or more years. So for whatever reason, this morning I felt the G-bar calling to me. I loaded a fresh blade and with some trepidation gave it a whirl. Not sure what I changed, but it was a nice, smooth shave. No nicks or irritation. I'm glad I didn't get rid of them as they are now going back into the rotation.

Congrats. You've explained much of my experience as well. I try a razor. It doesn't work for me, six months later it's great. No idea why really, no way to predict. That I now think is part of the fun of this hobby.

I had a similar experience a few years ago, i hated the open Combs, then this year I love them Not sure why it took so lung.

I had a similar experience in the beginning. I reacquainted myself with the GEM razors and corked the GEM SS blades before loading. I find that get better shaves with Treet blades.
