I love Tabac. I probably use it (out of about a dozen soaps/creams) every 3rd shave. If you want to get rid of it, let me know.
Let's face it; it stinks. But it is one of the easiest latherers out there and while I think that the lather is not one of the best it is still above average and easy to make. When you are a bit sloppy on brush-technique this one might even be the best for you.
If you like the rest of the soap but can't get over the scent/smell you might give Irisch Moos a try; very (very) close in performance but much better scented (though YMMV).
.....not too sure about the scent. I'm going to try it tomorrow and if its not for me, look for it on the B/S/T in about two weeks along with some other goodies.
Airing out Tabac to get rid of the scent is like trying to neutralize the odor of Blue Cheese. If you want bland cheese, buy Kraft Singles. If you want bland shaving soap, Palmolive is great stuff.
De-Tabacifying the soap? I don't get it.
While that is true, in both the shaving soap market and the shaving brush market, 99.9% of the time you have to purchase the product to even get your first touch (or smell) of it. It is not a model set up in the consumers' favor. At SOME point, you get tired of throwing good money after bad in your quest for that 100% fit. Occasionally we just make do for a while. There are far too many choices out there to settle for something that isn't a 100% fit.
