T&H West Indian Limes

So I tend to use soaps more than creams with good results, but lately I have decided to try out a few of the creams I have sitting around. The ones I have been using are Art of Shaving Sandalwood, Castle Forbes Lime, and Truefitt and Hill West Indian Limes.

I can get a good lather out of the AoS, and I have only tried the CF once but it seemed to provide a decent lather. I have tried the T&H on a number of occasions. I love the smell but I can never seem to get a good lather with it. It always seems either too dry, too airy, too thin, something. The very first time I ever shaved with it I thought it was awesome. I can't remember what I did then, but I was also brand new to wet shaving at the time and don't know if it just seemed good because it was my first real (not in the can) shaving cream.

I have tried it with my normal hard water, and with distilled water. I'm not really sure what I am doing wrong or what to do. My question:

Users of T&H creams, and especially users of the West Indian Limes, how do you get a good lather? I am looking for examples of techniques other people are using.

Thanks a bunch!

I read a technique for loading at some point and it works for me. You wet your brush and shake the water off then you work the brush as if you're creating lather. This pulls lots of the cream or soap up into my brush. Then when you add a little bit of water to the brush it works the loaded amount into a strong lather. I've been able to create consistent lathers this way instead of ending up with thin and dry amounts.

I tried the West Indies Lime in the sample package but did not like the scent.

I found that it lathered as well as the other T&H products I use on a regular basis, just did not smell like something I wanted to use regularly.

T&H creams can take a LOT of water but when you reach and then pass their saturation point they fall apart rather quickly BUT... when you get it right they are the best of the best.

One of my favorite creams and one of the ones I like (Grafton, 1805, or Trafalgar) makes it into my scuttle at least once a week.

When in doubt, use more product and less water. It works for everything. I've never had trouble with T&H, and considered lavender to be one of the best lathering cremes (I just hated the scent).
