switching sides

Who is switching blade sides after a few days?

I have noticed that Astra SP has numbers printed in all 4 corners on both sides so it makes it easy to turn them over after a few days. Would that prolong the life one gets out of them?

the numbers on blades are so that the alien invaders get confuses as to how to use a razor, grow their beards so long that they start tripping over them and the underground human resistance can then rise up and take back the earth.....

I disassemble and dry my blade and razor after each shave. I take no notice as to which side is up or down when doing so. I suppose I should--but that simply isn't happening.

Please remember to invert the numbers when you flip the blade. That's a critical element of the rotation that is apparently ignored by many in their efforts to extend the life of the blade. If you start with the number '1' in the upper left hand corner a full and efficatious rotation requires that '1' is placed in the lower right hand corner following the first flip of the blade. Otherwise the smoothing counterbalance of wear achieved in the first rotation is negated and you might as well have left the blade in its original orientation. This is a critical part of a full rotational system and must not be neglected. You have been warned! Deviate from these guidelines at your peril. Of course YRSMV (Your Rotation System May Vary)

Like I said, that's not happening for me. Apparently some guys balance the amount they shave with each edge, too. That's great. Far too much mental effort for me. I'm just trying to enjoy my shave. I get 5 easy shaves from just about every blade. That works for me.

By all mean, though, do whatever works for you. But please don't tell me what I need to do.

Ooops! Dean that was very tongue-in-cheek 'specially the part about 'peril'. I suppose I should have slapped a :001_rolle down at the end of it.

I thought the numbers were for an alternative version of flipping a coin.

It only took 5 tosses to learn that the blade should NOT be caught and slapped onto the back of the other hand.
It only works for "call it in the air" and let it fall.

Even if you believe in rotation the end-to-end flip that I mentioned and the one illustrated are most easily accomplished by leaving the blade in place, cap on or doors closed, and rotating the head 180 degrees by turning the handle in your hand to re-orient the head.

I think the numbers were part of the basic blade printing software package, and were meant to assist artwork orientation by the machine programmer. Someone forgot to delete them when the the blade print was added, and the resulting flurry of activity by people trying to decode the numbers in an effort to squeeze an extra shave or two from a 9 cent blade was so funny that they let the numbers stay in place....

I always thought it was so that you could trace imperfections in the machining when doing QC on the faulty blade...

That cracked me up LOL!

To the op, I've tried flipping the blade once and it gave me 1/2 a shave more. Well I say 1/2 because it wasn't sharp enough to be considered a full good average shave (but still did the job) and barely lasted for the whole shave too.

My take: not worth it
