Susie's Green Tea

Well the ship on this old mug sort of says it all….this is quite the place to hang out.

I just got the soap I won in Susie’s weekly giveaway. Funny it arrived right along with an Old Spice Mug 03 I bought off the bay. Seems a perfect combo to me…

Tomorrow I will give this soap a run….Boreal 976, Gillette NEW and a Feather. It should be fun.

Well I gave the Susie’s Green Tea soap a nice run this morning. I am much more of a minimalist shaver than the majority of B&B’ers (nearly full beard, so cheeks and neck only) ….weekdays I shower shave….soap, brush and razor…no preshave or postshave rituals.. So last night I loaded a fresh Feather in my Bar-Handled NEW, set the mug with Susie’s Green Tea soap along with my Boreal 976 brush by the shower ready for this morning.

I have successfully battled RAD to a standstill, but am still mildly affected with SAD. So this soap arrived with perfect timing.

First off this soap is probably the strongest scented soap currently in my limited collection (well maybe a bit less than ARKO but that scent has so far kept me from trying it). In the mug is has a strong floral scent that is hard to describe, with some backnotes of cucumber and clean soap. I could not detect green tea off the puck.

I wet my brush, gave it one good shake, then loaded it with soap….about 20+ seconds of swirling, then face lathered. This is where the green tea came in. It has a nice mild green tea scent on my face. The dry, almost dusty scent, of a handful of quality loose unbrewed green tea leaves was readily apparent as I built lather. The floral notes coming off the mug were less apparent to me in the lather. I got the dry green tea notes on top of a clean soap aroma….very pleasant.

My brush loaded easily to a very dense cream on the tips and once I started scrubbing it into my face, built to a very nice dense lather. My brush loaded up with more than enough lather for my usual 2 pass shave.

This soap feels a bit less “greasy” than some of my other soaps (PDP, Williams). However my razor slide across my face nicely and shaving was smooth, clean and comfortable. I re-lathered with the loaded brush, and did my second pass.

This soap rinsed off both my razor and face fast and clean.

After I dried off, I could still detect a slight scent of “fresh soap” and my beard felt soft. My neck and cheeks feel great this morning…giving me the feeling that I had applied a moisturizer.

Overall, this is a very nice soap. It lathered very well, gave me a great shave, left me with a very mild but pleasant scent, and left my skin feeling good.

Thanks Susie for this great prize and I look forward to many more great shaves.

I've not tried her green tea, but the first soaps I bought after my VDH kit were Susie's. They are great soaps, but now that my supply of Susie's is running low, I'm getting the bug to try someone else's...
