Surrey mugs

I found an Oldsmobile surrey mug at an antique store. Does anyone have info on how when they were made? Really 1903?

I was always under the impression these collector mugs made later, not the date on the mug.
But I found this link B&B members showing off their mugs.

Looking at some of the examples off the other thread my best guess is the 1903 is the model year of the Olds and not a mug date.
