They're missing I think. According to the Wiki, end caps appeared in 1946. The Super Speed debuted in 1947. All should have them (no big deal if missing IMHO, though it may affect value). I am missing one on a '46/'47 Aristocrat. Thinking of getting a junker, and making a '"donor" cap for it...
ETA: The rest of the questions. '40's style Super Speed, manuf. from '47 to '54. Don't think it's a '47, if you check for a date code as above, we can be more specific.
No date codes appeared until 1950, third quarter (which had a V and a 3 on opposite sides of the handle on the underside of the head on the diamond). After that, letter on far left and number on far right underside of head. W=1951, the number would denote the quarter of the year made.
It doesn't have a date code...so I think it's missing the endcap...
I think I will keep it as a shaver, because the head silos aligns perfectly and tight, also is shiny on head, base, and handle...just under the head has light brassing which is not visible until you turn it completely over.
So probably is a 40's style super speed...Thanks to everyone!!!
A little brassing and a missing end cap won't affect the shave. My second-favorite razor is missing both endcaps, is spotty, and has some chips in the handle. But it never lets me down.
If the doors open/close properly and line up, it will be a fine razor.
Did I mentioned that it came in its original rectangular red plastic box ? I polished it yesterday with MAAZ and the head looks like new! I'll try it the weekend...can't wait...

That would place it as either a 1949 or 1950. That was when the red styrene case was introduced. The blue styrene case was the norm in 1951, although the transition could have been made in late 1950.
