To answer my own question, it appears to take proprietary "King of Cutters" blades, as I found from an earlier discussion.

Now that it's over, I can link to the eBay auction I saw it on.
It went for $63, which I suspect is cheap - I wasn't really interested in bidding myself.

That's very cool, bfronc1. Definitely a keeper. Great connection to your grandfather.
The Superman will take a Modern GEM Blade although its a bit tight...

The Superman Razor can command quite high prices especially if its a complete cases/boxed set...I have seen them go for around $200/$250 baring in mind that every auction is unique......
