Superlather, which is your best combo?

Hi guys,

I'd like to get an idea of what people out there are combining in terms of cream and soap to generate their superlather?

I'm also interested to know how people decide which cream and soaps to combine? Is it based of generating fragrance, or the quality of the 2 products, or a combination of a favorite fragrance of a particular cream/soap with say the lanolin or moisturizing properties of the another cream/soap?

I hope that isn't too confusing, but the possibilities and combinations are endless? Let's start the ball rolling......what's your combo? :001_smile

VDH and KMF

Actually, I only use KMF cream, usually unscented; though the vanilla smells good with Tabac. But Tabac is so good alone the only reason to do this is if I over-water the lather and need something to strengthen it up a little.

I don't superlather often but VDH Delux and Proraso is a nice combo. Conks Amber also worked well in this application so VDH Glycerin would also be a good bet. The delux has shea butter which is a nice addition and adds minimal scent.

A popular combo seems to be Williams, and KMF Unscented. I tried it out for about a week, and it performs better than Williams on it's own. :thumbup1:

KMF unscented with any soap. If your soap lather is getting week, pump a drop of KMF in there and instant revival.

I would probably not mix scents; 1 unscented product with 1 scented product. Because I'm just not the type to venture into creating new scents.

I rarely do a superlather. However, while I love the L'Occitane CADE SS all by itself (it's the only non-tallow soap I use on a regular basis), and I do not particularly like the CADE SC by itself, somehow, together, they make for a fantastic superlather.

Go figure!

Enjoy!

Proraso white (aloe and green tea) soap with Proraso Green cream! Ultimate Proraso combo!

On my to-do, I still need to try MWF with Trumper violet.

Col Conk unscented and then whatever cream I choose (Tobs Almond, DR Harris Lavender, Proraso etc).

Amazing great Superlather! But lately, I've been on a Tallow kick...hard to get off the wagon :)

I dont do super/uber lather particularly, but I do make my own soap (out of necessity) and find that they dont do real well (lathers fine, but breaks down quickly in the bowl and on my face). I recently saw someone making uberlather by putting cream, soap, and some glycerine together. This gave me the idea to add glycerine to my soap, and it produced something that looked and felt pretty close.

Dont have any creams as I am allergic to them, but I suspect if I used glycerine in the amount you would usually use for both cream and glycerine, I should get a fairly similar product. Need to do some further investigation about the downsides of glycerine before I actually try this though.

with the price of arko stix, I sometimes lather creams in my soap bowl that I have two arko sticks mashed in. Sometimes I''l add noxema to the soap before lathering - methol & eucalyptus oil. i always add an essential oils mix to any new batch of arko stix I mash. sometimes menthol crystal.
