Superlather brush

Many brushes will do just fine for superlather. The only brush I have that doesn't take very kindly to superlather is a very short-lofted dense vintage Simpson. So, my advice would be to stick with a brush with medium-length bristles or more. Otherwise, density, shape, grade of hair...most combinations will produce great superlather for you. There isn't a single brush that I'd specifically recommend for superlather...if a brush produces great lather with one product, it will most likely produce great lather with two. Hope that helps.

Thanks for the answer RoyalKooparillo. I guess what I really wanted to ask was if I should prefer a soft cream brush or a stiff, short soap brush.

To be honest, I prefer something in-between...soft enough to hold a good amount of lather in the brush, but stiff enough to load the brush properly on a triple-milled puck of soap.

That sounds about right. Would you mind naming any particular brush that emodies both qualities?

I think the Rooney 3/1 super silvertip meets these criteria. I also think the Semogue 1305 boar meets these criteria. I think both are fantastic brushes.

I allready have a Rooney 1/1 Super (22mm knot, 45mm loft). I fear that the Rooney 3/1 will be too similar. How about the Simpsons Persian Jar 2 in best (or should I prefer the super)? I suspect that a 22mm knot and approximately a 48-50mm loft is to prefer.

Do the simpsons still suffer from quality problems, btw?
