Super-speed = Super-irritation

So, last night I was shaving with my Gillette super-speed, and my 2nd pass got really ugly. I got 3 good nicks and some pretty serious irritation; and I couldn't figure out what was going on. So, in the process of trying to stop the bleeding and clean up my razor, I noticed that the twist-to-open was loose. So, here I was shaving with a loose blade (not to mention the improper angle)... Lesson learned: make sure the blade is tight.

I understand, the title of my post may make it seem like it was the razor's fault, when it's purely my fault. The super-speed is a very mild, great shaving razor.

Pilot error. Crash and burn....

This can happen with a 2 piece and 3 piece also. Loose doors or head cap can cause a whopper blade exposure not to mention that the blade moves around which can also cause you issues.

Don't feel bad, I did the same thing on the side of my cheek with my EJ89 I unscrew the head to let it air dry forgot to tighten down before shaving.
It felt super rough and aggressive and noticed it scratching on my face haha, then I tightened it back up, tho it gave me quite intense razor burn on the side of my cheek.

Yeah, I have heard some horror storys like this, I'm sure that is the last time it will happen. Hope you like the SS, great razor. Enjoy your shave!

The Super Speed may not be the razor for you. I never got along with the regular Super Speeds. I usually had some irritation when using those razors and nicks were common. The Red Tip was better but still not quite right. I use a Futur now and I hardly ever nick myself or suffer from irritation.

Actually, I've been using the SS for about 3 weeks and I love it - which is why I was so puzzled last night when things started getting ugly...

Ouch! Thats a tough lesson! But I think we've all made one mistake or another in our DE shaving learnng curve....

Lesson learned, so now go back to some wonderful shaves.

Been there done that! (Only ONCE!!!). The "super speed" was me rushing and thinking about other things. Learned to slow down and pay attention to details. The Super Speed in itself will never let you down. Super Speed + good blade+ good prep+good technique= SUPER SHAVE!

Following the example of one of our members I developed the habit of turning my razor 180 degrees after every rinse, thereby ensuring even blade wear. But when I started to use the SS I quickly realised I was turning it in the direction of opening. Fortunately I didn't have an experience like yours. Now the direction of twist has been reversed.
It took me ages to get the angle right on a Superspeed, but now it is definitely up there with the best of my razors.
