Super-Max Blades?

Anyone know about Super-Max blades? I've never heard of them. They're on eBay - less than $19 for 240 blades. Great deal if they're any good.

Super-Max Super Stainless and Platinum (that is probably the one you refer to) are good blades IMO, see the reviews and my thread "Feather, measure of all blades"

Like everyone else has stated, they are good blades for the money. They have a slightly less effective but cheaper sibling, the SuperMax Super Stainless, which I find to be pretty decent.

My experience is very limited - six shaves on a Stainless last week, and two so far this week on a Platinum, so it doesn't count for a whole lot, but here goes:

So far the Platinum seems to be a very good blade, much sharper than the Stainless. I would go so far as to say that is one of my potential candidates for a bulk buy.

The strange thing about the one Stainless blade is that one edge seemed to be much sharper than the other. The edges were clearly distinguishable, and I spent the week shaving only with the sharper edge. The sharper edge, however, was still not as sharp as the Platinum. However, the blade was durable enough to allow six fairly comfortable single-pass shaves. I assume that this was a rare anomaly, and maybe there isn't so much difference between the two blades as I experienced. I'll know better when I go through the remaining blades in the pack.

If I ignore the one faulty edge, I rate the Stainless as adequate. I didn't mind shaving with it and I would buy the Stainless if they were available at a local store, but I wouldn't make a bulk buy.

I have been using the Super Stainless off and on for a while and I have found them to be very good. Especially when you consider that you can get them for £0.03p each when bought in bulk.

Update: I just finished the week on my first Super-Max Platinum blade. This blade was excellent - very sharp and stayed that way. I'm changing it out on my normal once a week schedule, but I feel like this blade would be good for another week. I went for an ATG pass on the face today, which I never do, and it was great. The whiskers just melted away with this blade.

Shaves 1, 2, 5, 6, and 7 were with a Parker 91R, shave 3 was with a Lord L6, and shave 4 was with a Fatboy on 5.

with posts like that you do know that the price will go up.:tongue_sm

I put these blades in my rotation a few weeks ago, good blades, never gone past 3 shaves with them though, which is all I use a blade for anyway.

+1 on these. I ordered the lot of 240 last week. There are some smoother blades out there, but not at this price.

I've been eyeballin' those for about a week, and pulled the trigger last night. I like the blades, and the price seems to be very good. We'll see how it all goes.
