Super Iridium availability

Ive recently revisited this blade after using Astras for quite a while, and after using them for two shaves, I find I like them better. I plan to use up the rest of this ten pack to make sure this isnt a fluke, but if I do decide to purchase these blades, are they still available anywhere?

P&G seems to have stopped production. Hopefully they will be back.

Second only to Feathers in my view. Search for Super Iridiums in other threads. There are several.

someone is selling 250 on ebay for $250+

Yeah, I saw that ebay posting. Thats ridiculous in my opinion. If I do end up wanting to buy 100 of these, should I expect to pay a ridiculous price for them? If thats the case, I'll stop using them now, and try something else.

Oddly, none of the other blades made at that same factory famous for its glue spots show a shortage.

There was talk that the production of the Iridiums was merely suspended and coming back. Does anyone have further information on this?

EDIT: I only have one pack of these, that's just not enough

I've got around 300 (bought in bulk at the good price before the shortage).

I will sell them here for $10,000.

I have been searching an alternative to my Iridiums, at the moment I am using Voskhod razor blades, I believe them to be VERY SHARP and SMOOTH. much like the Iridiums. you know it takes some time to compare but Damn it. I have been getting some SERIOUS BBS. :w00t:

I am going back and forth between Red Personnas and the Iridium. I am not sure which I like better, however, I do have 100 of them that I MAY give up. Please PM me with your interest and I'll figure it out from there. :001_smile

Even at a dollar a blade, if you get 4 to 8 shaves per blade your looking at 25 cents to 12.5 cents a shave. In my opinion still cheaper then buying multi-blade cartridges any day.

Good thing my current daily blades are Shark Super Chrome or Racer blades.

I really think if you like Super Iridiums, you should try the Gillette 7 o'clock Sharpedge (yellow pack). I can't tell a difference between them.

I have lucked out making trades for the SI's. I did not even think about it and loaded up one the other day for the first time in my NEW and my shave was harsh. I had been rocking the SI's in my Merkur and I got the NEW right around the time of the shaveapocalypse. Lucky for me I have some Yellows for the NEW. Guess that will make my SI's last longer since I use the NEW more than the Merkur.

Do I have anything to add to the availability? Well maybe my post sums it up. get lucky and score a deal or pay a super gouged price.

Maybe so Gixxer. I'm afraid that these will not be coming back at all, however I hope that I am wrong in that assessment. :crying:

I have some of the 'new' cardboard-boxed Gillette Platinums which appear to be made in St. Petersburg on the way to test. Once they are here I shall try them out in my DE86. I also have a Fatboy & a Slim on the way, will test in those also and see if I like them.

That is too bad, another one bites the dust it seems. I had thought someone in another thread had written and gotten back a reply that the issue was only temporary. Well, in case I hope it will be, they are fine blades for sure.

I still have 20 or so of these and I like them but I won't lose sleep if they go away.

I believe Polsilver blades were once made in Poland and then production moved to St. Petersburg and was then terminated so there is precedent for P&G killing off a popular blade.

Currently I have a stash of 1400 blades so I'm not sweating rumors of a shavepocalypse any more. :)
