Suggestions for DE Razor for My Wife

My wife told me she would be interested in getting a DE razor to replace the typical disposable Gillette leg razors.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I am thinking a Merkur 34C (HD) or Merkur 38C (for the longer handle)???

She said she would prefer a Merkur to the lady Gillette. Any input is appreciated!

If she's fine with other vintages there is the Gillette milady. There's two versions I know of. One looks like a short old type and the other is a short milord. I don't know that there are any modern ones "for lades". I would also check out the Merkur 1904.

You might consider a Vintage Schick Krona DE, it's mild with a Long Handle.

The long handle and mild shave of the Lady Gillette make it probably the best choice. Too bad she doesn't like it before even trying it. A Tech would be good. I hadn't thought of the Krona but it fits the profile. A Super Adjustable might be good. Set it on 1 or 2 and it is really really mild, and it has the long handle, too. See a commonality here? Most women I think would like a long handle for leg shaving. The long handled Merkurs are mild enough, you think? I am not that familiar with them. And has she shaved with one of your face razors? If so, what were her impressions?

Maybe a Merkur 23C long handle could also fit the bill. It looks like it would be lighter than the 38C and it has a longer handle than the 34C.

One advantage that the Lady Gillette or Krona have over modern Merkur razors is that they are twist to open designs. The TTO design makes changing blades easier than the 3 piece design. My SWMBO cut herself with a 3-piece and was a little put off by the idea until going to a Lady Gillette. Beyond that, the handle is probably the most important. Though I think the Krona may too mild. Don't be scared of aggressive razors, her legs are way less sensitive than our faces (despite our ruggedness).

Edit: Or, if you are like Antique Hoosier, you can grab a couple of Slims from your vintage adjustable razor bucket
This is probably the best option, it just didn't even occur to me to 'sacrifice' a Slim.

Precisely. This razor was one of the few DEs specifically designed for women. But the OP's SWMBO has already decided she didn't like it. If she would just try one...

I thought my wife would insist on a longer handle, but the first thing she tried was a ball end Tech and she had no issues with it. I still ordered her a Lady Gillette that we're waiting on now.

My wife likes the Lady Gillette and my daughter swears by a long handled Schick injector- not sure of year-- white handle with gold head- she also likes the Schick G.

White Handle & Gold Head is the J1- 1959, fairly mild & forgiving.
