Suggestions for a young shaver.

Hey guys, I'm only a couple of months into wet shaving. My last couple shaves I have been finishing with a splash of witch hazel, cleaning up, then doing a quick splash of old spice. My skin has been feeling great after this, but I am not sure that OS is an everyday scent for me.

This is where you guys come in. To give you an idea of whati like, my go to scents when I do wear something are Bleu de Chanel and Lacoste White. If you are familiar with these do you have any suggestions for some aftershaves that would be similar to/compliment them while still being budget friendly?

I also live on the hot and muggy gulf coast if that has any bearings on your suggestions.

Is there much of a menthol smell to the proraso? I have the green Proraso shave cream and I enjoy the way it feels, but I'm not huge fan of overly mentholated smells.

How about something on the light citrus side? Pinaud makes a couple of citrus aftershaves

If you want something that is uber light and won't clash with anything go with 4711.

Definitely Proraso aftershave splash. I live in the hot Arizona, and Proraso does the job. You can definitely go with Lacoste and Chanel, but they are basically diluted cologne. I used an Armani aftershave and Perry Ellis aftershave that came with the cologne. Nothing wrong with that either; aftershave splash are basically all alcohol with some fragrance.

I'm thinking maybe a bottle of Speick as it seems to have some other good ingredients and then maybe something like the 4711. Turtle your advice on some of my other threads has been quite helpful so I may just have to trust you.

Here's another suggestion, and it's so cheap that even if you hate it after one wearing it's still a bargain:

Barbasol Pacific Rush (a nice young aquatic with a TON of Menthol to wake you up in the morning!) Available at most Dollar General stores, it'll set you back less than $2 for a bottle.

My advice is to hit up Garry's Sample Shop and try a wide array of aftershaves for less than the cost of most full sized bottles. He has fourteen different options right now (including the aforementioned Speick, Proraso, and Pinaud options), ranging in price from $1.50 to $4.00 per vial. Give his shop a look over in the BST!
