Stropping / Honing Frequency

Greetings!

So I've been contemplating purchasing a straight (Dovo or TI) 5/8 hollow ground with rounded tip. I would definitely purchase a shave-ready one (stropped and honed) for my first shave. I realize I would also need a strop. I figure both the razor and strop should not cost me more than $200 for decent quality blade.

Question I have is how often do you guys strop? How often do you hone? On average after how many shaves does a dovo / TI require a honing?

Cheers.

Strop everyday the razor is used. Hone way less and re finish a bit more like once every 2 weeks only cause I like the feel of a blade of a finisher.

Strop before, after or both before and after every shave. Touch up once a week on pasted balsa. Should be able to to go many months. Make sure the razor is professionally honed, not just factory sharp.

+1 on Mikes post above. You might benefit as I did in using a paddle strop or at least laying a hanging strop on a flat surface until you get the hang of stropping. I rolled the edge on my first 2 razors.

As mentioned strop before and after. Usually 60/30 laps. In my experience Thiers Issard edges last longer than carbon Dovo. With proper stropping an edge should last weeks if not months.

Thanks for shar(v)ing gents!
Now for the tough question...what is/are the benefits of shaving (and maintaining a straight razor) vs using a DE safety razor?
