Say I wanted to purposely remove the silver plating from a razor. Are there any household methods for doing so?

There's a method of cleaning silver that'll strip plate if you overdo it - I've half a dozen spoons that prove this.

3/4 of the razor is exposed brass, 1/4 is still silver in bad condition after polishing.
If you have an electric buffing wheel, apply some jeweler's rouge compound to the wheel and you can gently buff away the remaining silver finish fairly easily.
