Well I got my technique down, and I am getting consistently great shaves with no razor burn, weepers, or nicks of any sort and I got my razor, soaps, creams, aftershaves, balms, and little sampler pack of different blades.....I only have about 30 blades:tongue_sm...so I need more blades.
Speaking as a new person to the world of wet shaving there are some questions I have:
Do you have a stockpile of blades?
Does the price of blades fluctuate enough to deem it a good idea to stock up?
How many blades do you have in your "little" hoard?(this ought to be fun)

Thanks for the info:thumbup1:

About 250

100 Redpack personna
100 Crystals ( I cant make up my mind which of these I like better).
50 Feathers

I found that I love Blue Birds so I have 100 in transit as we speak. I feel if you really like a certain type of blade and you have tried it in multiple razors then definitely stock up on that blade. Who knows when they will stop producing them....

Yes, I stockpile, but not so much because of possible price flux, but because you never know when your favorite blade will be discontinued or become unobtainable.

Counting SE and DE blades, I've got something like 400 blades (just over 7 yrs worth) waiting for use.

Hmmm, maybe I need to grab some more.

I was in the same boat as you about a month ago. I now have narrowed my blades to Crystals and Feathers. I have 100 Crystals and 20 Feathers.

I use a straight and they are bit expensive to stockpile.

But I’ve got a couple of packets just in case. That should be about 1000 years shaving.

My stockpile has grown enormously over the past few months. I found a number of NOS blades and I purchased a huge lot of Derby's from a dealer who sells the "vertical" format packages from Turkey. These Derby's shave very nicely. It's quite possible your favorite blade my be discontinued or change due to QC issues or production changes. Having a stockpile mitigates the problems these issues presents and also is a nice hedge against future price increases or availability issues.

With the lack of clarity regarding the source of the IP Red blades, I have some worries about their long term availability. Seems like there's a chance that they will dry up altogether in their present form once this particular batch is all sold off.

For the price of 'em, seems worth laying in a few hundred if they work for you.

I have about 500 red Personna's, about 100 blue Israeli's and an unknown amount of other brands which have just arrived as samples, PIF's, prizes, etc. The reds are my go to blade.

Should be good for a while. But, at the back of my mind, there is always the nagging "what if they stop making DE blades one day?".... I better go buy some more.

#1. Yes.
#2. No, tho blades do have a tendency to go out of production. See #1.
#3. Even after selling a few off, I still have over 2,000, enough for 30+ years of shaving.

They are from Israel. I doubt they will dry up, but since they are so inexpensive it wouldn't hurt to lay in a supply.
