Stepping up my game

Hello there fellows!
I've pipe smoking and cigar smoking for quite a while now. I've been keeping my tobacco and cigars in mason jars, ziploc bags and tupperdors and I'm thinking on put together a couple of humidors (one for cigars and another for pipe tobacco) and I step with this humidifier called "Cigar Oasis Electronic Humidifier".
Any of you tried? Anyone read some impartial review?
Cheers!

i dont think one would want a humidor for pipe tobacco, just keeping it in a mason jar keeps it moist and , still needs to be aired as too get the moisture out, my 2 cents

Keep the pipe tobacco in jars. The Oasis units are good, but unless you are running a huge humidor like a cabinet you can get the same results with humidity beads which are practically fool proof.

ya the oasis is a good unit from what I have heard, but usually you need it to be a pretty good sized cabinet to need one. I'm running beads in a pretty decent sized wineador and have been getting rock steady humidity in it.

Thanks for the advice gents!
I've reading about gel, beads and others types of humidifiers; can anyone elaborate about that? or point me to a good source of information?
thanks

To my understanding, most of the gels only release humidity and do not absorb it if the humidity level gets too high (don't quote me on this though). I wish I could be more helpful about the gel humidifiers, but I have never used them and don't have much personal experience with them. I have read around the interwebz that beads are more liked over the gel. YMMV

Beads on the other hand actually absorbs and releases to keep the humidity stable. the beads are preset for specific humidity levels, 60%, 65%, or 70% for the humidity level you want. You spritz the beads with distilled water every once in awhile to recharge them. The beads when dry are a white color and become clear when they are saturated with water. I usually keep it so about half of the beads are white and half is clear. There is a min. amount of beads that you need depending on the sizes of your humidor, but you can never have too much of it. The more beads you have the faster your humidor will stabilize after opening and closing your humidor.
