What's new

Steam towels are key to a good shave.

Hot towels can be pleasant before a shave, under certain conditions, but I've not found this process gave any better results than having a warm shower. Very much a YMMV thing, I'd guess.

My wife already thinks that I’ve taken my shave routine waaay too far. If I suddenly broke out a hot towel she may check me in for help. Not saying that I’m not tempted. Will just have to make sure that I’m finished by the time she wakes up!

I paint my face with a brush soaked in the hottest water safe for skin. Then I brush my teeth. Works for me.

Super hot towels are not good for skin and unnecessary to saturate stubble which is all that is required to cut whiskers effectively. Whether you enjoy it is another thing entirely. Warm water will do without deleterious effects, as will cold which just takes a bit longer to saturate.
