What's new

Star Kampfe, latest addition

I just got it a few days ago and have not had the chance to clean it.
The case is tiny, just enough to hold the head, the handle that breaks into two parts and a sideburns "shavette".
The bottom lid covers a second smaller compartment where the blade is stored, attached to a clip. The blade looks new...

I really can't wait to get it cleaned and ready for a spin.

That's a three medalion tin, later model early 1900's Kampfe - a great piece of shaving history.

The price is missing, the first pic seems like someone painted over the top half of the circle at some point, is that where you'd expect the price?

Hi Sled,

If you look closely at your photo, the $1.50 tin is slightly smaller and has a slightly different dye-stamp above and below the top and bottom doors. See the embossed channel? It's probably a year to three years earlier than your $2.00 tins.

On a side note, and I don't mean to hijack the thread, but below is the best-preserved tin I've come across. Wish it was mine!

Man is that ever a nice tin, I have never seen one in that condition!!

I knew the $1.50 tin was older, but I'm not sure how much older.
Im curious to know what model belongs in this tin. The razor that came in it, I suspect pre-dates the tin..but Im not sure
I think this razor belongs in a round tin, but im only guessing.
Sorry for the hijack, will post more pics in a separate thread

I finally cleaned it and took it for a ride.
I didn't push it but it is a very easy to control. Not overly aggressive with plenty of warninh before a potential bite.
There is sone flex at the head hinge which actually tells you that too much pressure is apllied. It is light weight with reasonable balance.
The best part is that you see the ornate back as you shave which enhances the feel of shaving with a piece of history.
The design is so simple and elegant. Since the hinges can wear, i am not going to use it daily though I am tempted...
