SRD's Thaters

Just received my Thater 4125/2 2 Band from straightrazordesigns.com

the listing describes this brush as 26 knot/54 loft
http://www.straightrazordesigns.com...4125-2-b-26mm-two-band-finest-silver-tip-bulb

however the little sticker on the box reads: imperial shaving ... 4125/2 24mm :confused1 (24mm knot supposed to be 4125/1 and cost less according to website)
is that something I should be concerned about or is it just labeling typo? Did anyone purchase Thater from SRD lately?
I have no way to measure the knot size

I do not know. I am at work and cannot measure. Please tell how to do it so I can check when I get back home?

Honestly, I'd just shoot the vendor an email and ask. I had an issue with a razor from SRD, and they were quick to reply and happy to issue an exchange.

On the other hand, you could always run to Home Depot and spend $10 on a pair of calipers.

Just measure the knot size across where it enters the handle with a ruler (if you don't have calipers). If it's 25-26 mm, then SRD have listed this size, and not the nominal size of the cup as given by Thater.

Supposedly the Thaters at SRD were +/- 2mm in knot size. I can't remember exactly now what the posting I read was. I know the 24mm I had bought was more like a 22mm. I ended up buying two brushes, but they both worked out lovely.

..just out of curiosity...are those $10 home depot vernier calipers very accurate?

I wrote to SRD and here is the reply:

"Hello Sir, I just checked and there is a typo in our label the web site and the Thater label is right. Sorry about that and Thank you for bringing it to our attention.

Best Regards

Don"

That sure puts my worries at ease. Great and lightning fast costumer service. My crude ruler measurements confirm the 26x53 size.:w00t:

Why ask us?

I think the OP's question was totally legit. Next time ouch, you may want to represent B&B moderators in a more helpful light instead of being snarky. Just some friendly advice from me to you.

To answer the OP's question... I recently purchased a Thater from SRD and the box label matched the brush I purchased. I ordered a 4125/2 2 Band as well and the label read 40125208 2-band. Glad to hear they answered your inquiry promptly. This thread should help clear up any confusion for others that may have had the same question.

I thought his comment was that the OP ought to just drop an e-mail to the people he purchased the item from and give them a chance to explain it before bringing their name up here as a potential problem vendor, but that's just me.
Sometimes a PM to someone serves a better purpose than to call them out in public if the purpose is to genuinely give friendly advice. Just some friendly advice from me to you.

I'd normally respond to your complaint, but I try to limit my replies to members who have mastered the incredibly difficult task of not getting kicked out of the barber shop.

If you'd really like a more detailed explanation, see post #14.

edit - looks like it's all under control and the OP got his response, but yes, a set of digital calipers comes in handy for shaving stuff and many other projects and uses around the house
