My setup doesn't change a lot from budget to luxury...but here's my top end gear, with enough international fancy to need two umlauts:
Preshave=hot shower
Brush=Still using the Vie-Long. It's both luxury and budget.
Cream=CF Lavender, bought used for a great price on another forum
Razor= 1920's restored Böker with bone scales
Aftershave=Floïd
Beard Oil=Lavender scented, homemade

Prep: Shower. Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements' Preshave Soap & Lather Booster - "Scentsless"
Soap: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements - "Cavendish"
Brush: Semogue 1250
Razor: Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements' - "The Phoenix Sidewinder"
Blade: Astra SP(2)
Post: Cold shower. Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements' Alcohol-Free Tonic - "Cavendish"
This SOTD looks like an ad for PAA. It wasn't really intentional, but I just love the Cavendish scent. I won't bother trying to describe it because it smells exactly like a Cavendish aromatic pipe tobacco possibly of the vanilla variety---heavenly! If you're not a fan of vanilla, don't let that run you off. I'm not particularly a fan of artificial vanilla scents, myself, but the vanilla cavendish is different. I just get lost in the sweetness of it, so I may be wrong about the vanilla. The soap performs just as prior PAA offerings. Natively, it's not quite as slick as some of my other artisan soaps, but prepping with their glycerine-based Preshave Soap & Lather Booster takes care of that.
This is the second time I've used the Sidewinder. I can tell it's going to be my daily driver for a while. It's one of the most intuitive shavers I've used, and it's an excellent choice for shower shaving.
This is the first time I've used PAA's Alcohol-Free Tonic as an aftershave. In recent weeks, I've been using it as a cologne because the scent is intoxicating. While I usually prefer an alcohol-based aftershave, this tonic is an excellent performer. There was, of course, no immediate sensation, but the pampering ingredients made a huge difference to my scalp. In my early days of head shaving, I used a home mixture of aloe, witch hazel, and tea tree oil with a touch of lavender essential oil to counter the medicinal tea tree oil scent. This concoction works great, but the scent was just not to my liking. PAA's Cavendish tonic accomplishes what I was trying to do, but with a stellar scent.
I'm more of a cigar man, myself, but this Cavendish is giving me the itch to take up pipe smoking aromatics. Well done Phoenix Artisan Accoutrements!
