SOTD "FREE WEEK" December 21st - December 27th, 2020

+1 I get tired of seeing piles of lather covering who knows what brush and straight razors that all you can see is the backbone and heel.

I think there is room for both, even in the SOTD thread but I personally neither understand nor enjoy the lather shots, I simply ignore them. Whilst many shots including my own look staged to a degree, the lather shots, especially those with a ball of lather perched atop a spotlessly clean brush, look comically so to my eye, all that is required are some chocolate sprinkles. 👍

Preshave: Very Warm Water
Soap: MWF
Aftershave Balm: Prorasso Green Tea and Oat
Eau de Toilette: Gio by Armani
Brush: Yaqi Moka Synthetic
Razor: Ming Shi 2000s Adjustable Shaver (Futur clone)
Blade: Astra Green
Lather Bowl: Something I found because I loved the pattern

Comments: First time using MWF, did not find it slicker than creams, smell reminded me of Imperial Leather soap, great scent. The razor of surprising quality and great value does the job, it's been a year since using it, don't like the sound (a brush on a empty tin can). Tough around the nose but you can manipulate with odd angles to get the job done, experience counts.

Sunday shave

66AD998A-B942-4A61-86F1-078409A41655.jpeg

Prep: Neutrogena Razor Defense face scrub
Soap: Stirling Island Man sample
Brush: Karve Two-band Badger
Razor: Gem Micromatic Open Comb, shave #2
Blade: Gem PTFE, #2
Post: Alum -> hyaluronic acid-> Aqua Velva aftershave

A mostly two-pass DFS tonight, but for the CCS on the right side of my neck. While closer, still had some solid feedback from the alum and I'll try a lighter touch tomorrow. A better lather tonight and no real noticeable tugging from the blade, so I think what I ran into last night may have been due to lather issues. No shedding from the Karve tonight, which I was happy to see as I really like this brush.
