What's new

Sorry for my absence

Greetings from Mendel & Gilligan!

Some of you may be wondering where I've been. As many of you know, last September, my beloved dachshund, Mendel passed away at the age of 17. He had terrible seizures, etc. Most likely a brain tumor.

Well, we own two of Mendel's nieces - Maddie (10) & Katie (12). Maddie recently experienced terrible grand mal seizures. She's now on medication but she's not herself. Here we go again! Mendel's mother (Maddie's grandmother) passed away from seizures at the age of 11. Apparently, Maddie might have acquired the bad genetics. That's why my presence has been missing as of late.

Sorry to hear of it. It's a difficult time when there's nothing you can do, and feel so helpless having to watch them go through that. We'll say a prayer for you.

Sorry to hear that :-( swmbo has epilepsy so I definitely know the helplessness you feel. Even more scary in an animal that can't actually tell you what is wrong or what hurts.

Best wishes and prayers.

Even though I am new here, I am sorry to hear about your dogs even though I am not a fan of dachshunds (had one bite me when I was a child and tore my cheek off). I know how dogs are just as much a part of many families as children are, I had a basset hound that had to get put down three years ago this November due to seizures, that year we lost 3 dogs in less than a 12 month span, and all are missed.

Welcome back, and stay strong, brother !

I remember when my dalmation had liver+kidney failure,They were some really rough times.

So sorry to hear this news. You've been missed on the boards!! I know what you're going through. My beloved boxer passed away when I was 21 years old (I'm 55 now) after a lengthy battle with cancer. Thirty four years later, I still miss her every day.

Hang in there!

Sorry to hear about these unfortunate troubles. I hope that all takes a turn for the better and wish your dogs good health.

Take care of the little ones. They need all of the extra time you can spend with them now.

Mendel (the tree I planed in his name) is growing strong.

Good vibes going to your family, Maddie and Katie.
Give Maddie a juicy treat and a pat on the head for us!
