"Something Smells Good!"

I splashed on a little of the Pinaud Bay Rum this morning and went downstairs to make sure the kids were done getting ready for school. As I sat on the stairs tying my shoes, my four year old son came over to give me a hug and, afterwards, started looking around and said, "Something smells good!" I let him have a sniff of my cheek and he said, "Mmmm!"

Such class and distinction for a four year old! I haven't gotten his take yet on Lilac Vegetal.

Little Brewshooter Jr may become the B&B authority on AS. Those are the moments fathers treasure. BTW, does he do soaps & creams?

It is my opinion that most Bay Rums smell like a Christmas ham. Too, much of a cloves smell for me..ironically, I do like Ogallala Bay Rum & Sandalwood now and then. Its probably because, I am just a menthol nut for the likes of Floid Vigorosa, Alt-Innsbruck (AS/cologne) Aqua Velva Ice Blue, Osage,etc......Many, many Gents like Bay Rum, though...def. one of the oldest school AS and that should say something for it...Once you pass the SWMBO approval, you will be home free. :biggrin1:

I did lather up his and his older brother's face the other night and they ran off to their bath laughing like madmen to show their mother.

Yes, the clove is definitely quite strong in the Pinaud product.

By the way, Brewshooter. If you are a fan of bay rum AS, you should give The Captains Choice Bay Rum a try. Not sure if you know, but it's actually made by a B&B member (he's a vendor here). I like it and I find it is really nice for my skin. My SWMBO and kids love it too. No cloves in it from what I know.

Thanks! I'll have to check it out.

Well, this morning I splashed on a little Lilac Vegetal and asked the youngest son's opinion. He said it smelled "yummy!" The older kid had his own take on it, "disgusting!" I don't know what I'm going to do with that boy!!

You might like Captains Choice Bay Rum, no cloves

Masters has no detectable clovey smell too it. While CC has no cloves, when I have it on, the wife yells out "Ham" again but not with Masters. But personally, I like CC a bit better than Masters.

I love cloves, ham comparisons be damned... All the same, I don't think I am big on cloves overwhelming my bay rums. I definitely like a heavily spicy element but I don't want it to be too extreme. I've yet to try the Pinaud Bay Rum but it is on my list...

The "ham" metaphor is not meant to be overtly sarcastic, just a bit of ribbing. When I cook ham, I usually put about 10 times too many cloves on it. I like the cloves and spices myself, to a point, and would also recommend trying Dominica BR.

I would, but I don't have a bottle of it yet. I did pick up some Master Bay Rum the other day, but haven't asked him about it.

Meehan's is another that doesn't overpower with cloves. Captain's Choice gets so much love around here that I really need to give it a try.

I found that a 60/40 mix of master and clubman (60% masters) smells great, not too hammy.

Also I would wear the **** out of some bacon AS. Someone make that happen.

I'm going to place another order with West Coast Shaving next week. I think I'll throw in a bottle of the Captain's Choice.
