Soldering a Gillege old type

Anyone ever solder their Gillette old type? Mine has the usual cracks in the handle and while things aren't loose enough to be a problem, I'd rather the parts didn't come apart like they do.

They're made of fairly normal brass, right? I'm thinking it should be fairly simple to go at it with a little solder and a torch and make the handle more of a solid one-piece affair again.

Mine is 100% free of whatever plating it ever had, and I won't ever be selling it anyway so resale value is of no concern to me.

Use epoxy. It's not going to look perfect but it'll stay together and is only a 5 minute job. That's what most of us here use on our Old Types.

Epoxy is a quick fix and will do the job. If you would rather solder it, I'd suggest you use a heat gun rather than a torch. Cleaner and less stress on the razor.

The problem with the heat gun idea is that I don't own one and neither does anyone I know. I'm also moving to another country (again) in July and would rather not purchase anything I can't/won't be moving.

I do, on the other hand, have a small torch on hand as well as experience soldering/brazing/welding, hence my leaning in that direction. If I take a stab at it this weekend I'll post back with pictures and info on results.

While it's in pieces I may also fill the hollow of the handle with something to add some weight to it. I currently have it (temporarily) filled with small lead shot from my flyfishing gear to test it out with more weight in the handle and I like the added heft and improved balance.
