Softness of Boar changes

Why is it that my boar brush doesn't feel too soft when I feel it on my hand when dry. It is actually my scritchiest brush when dry and one of my softest brushes when wet.

Is this just how boar is? Once it gets wet it becomes soft?

It takes awhile to break in boar brushes. I've used mine, an Omega and a VDH, for quite some time now. Both are soft as can be and feel great during use.

Hang in there, it'll get better the more you use it.

My experience as well. Better when wet; better yet after some break-in.

In my experience, yes. Once you break the brush in and the ends split, it becomes softer when wet and dry.

I don't know if I didn't word things properly (I apologize if I did) but I have used my brush over 30 times. I don't know if this is fully broken in and I would assume that it not and will get even softer with more use.

I am blown away at how soft my boar is. I am not worried about the softness at all.

My question is does a boar brush feel A LOT softer when wet than when dry. I don't think my badger brushes feel softer when wet but my boar definitely does.

According to this guide, boar bristle actually absorbs water when soaked; this is what makes boar brushes softer when wet. Badger doesn't, but retains it in the knot via surface tension and capillary action, which is why badger doesn't get much softer when wet.
