Soap in mouth, how do you guys handle it?

I was wondering about this, through my few years of wet shaving I have of course ended up with shaving cream in my mouth. Through the process of applying it to my face, I typically end up with some on my lips. Even though I try to keep my lips closed throughout the shave I invariably end up with some seeping into my mouth.

I normally spit it out and then rinse thoroughly, since getting any down the gullet will lead to digestive problems. So I was wondering how others deal with this. Last week in particular I know I swallowed a very small amount, but of course paid for it with the sprints to the restroom later.

i keep my mouth shut while lathering, and none seems to get in.

i guess you could wipe your lips on a washcloth after lathering, or close your mouth tightly and roll your lips inwards a bit, so no lip is showing.

When i get soap on my lips while lathering i just wipe it off with my finger before shaving. I dont think soap has ever made its way into my mouth using this technique.

When it does manage to creep its way in I just consider it divine providence and savour it as best I can. Speick and Veleiro are my favourites...Proraso gives me heartburn.

I wear a goatee, so I have a good buffer zone around my mouth. I lather up to the outer edge, and stop there. So far, no problems.

If that happens to me, I just shave my lips.

I don't think I have ever gotten shave cream in my mouth . . . you just have to bee good with a brush, I guess.

And here I thought Proraso was supposed to have a cooling effect...

I consider that a plus ... I deliberately leave my moustache and the inner-edge of my goatee a little longer so that I can "chew" on it when I'm in deep thought.

I sometimes like to eat my Tabac soap lather. Just kidding, never have a problem with this. I always wipe off my lips with a finger after I have lather up, but before I start shaving. This keeps the lather out of my mouth.

I do get a little AS in my mouth from time to time. Honestly Skin Bracer is not that bad.

First time I ever heard that a small amount of soap swallowed leads to digestive issues - it used to be a punishment at school for talking out of order, mouth washed out with a bar of soap - which would obviously lead to some ingestion of soap

Yup - "squeegee" it off using the finger - works for me and has done for the last 25 years.
