Soap for sensitive skin

Hey Fellows

I've recently become more sensitive to certain soaps. I used to be able to use just about anything with very little issue
Now many of my favourites are leaving me red and irritated
I can't use Cella anymore, and recently my Razorock La Familigia has turned on me
The only thing that doesn't seem to irritate is Mitchell's Wool Fat.

Can anyone offer any suggestions as to what soaps I can try next or perhaps even what ingredients to avoid and so on.

thanks
Phil

Phil.

I have very sensitive skin too. Mystic Waters has been great for me. The sensitive skin formula is very nice, but even the Lilies of the valley was very mild for me.

This is artisan soap. If you send an email, your going to get a reply form Michelle - the soap artist. I asked her a free questions, and it seems that she has worked very hard to create a very mild soap with great lather.

Samples are 3 for $3.50 + $3.50 shipping. For $7, it is definitely worth a try.

Highly recommended.

Try Nivea shaving cream (it comes in a blue squeeze tube, not the canned gel) It's very mild, and actually lathers quite well. It's my go-to soap since using the "higher end" soaps too often irritates my neck.

Speick shave stick is also very skin-neutral, but it's a shave stick and applying the stick itself may irritate the skin.

+1 and Mike's unscented is also something to consider. Both fabulous soaps!

Mitchell's Wool Fat would probably be good too. It can be tricky to get going sometimes, but it has a very mild scent and protects well.

I suspect you are reacting to the fragrance chemicals in the soap. I would try an unscented shave soap such as the VDH Luxury Unscented or either Mama Bear's or Honeybee's unscented soaps. If you are able to use those without issue than fragrance chemicals are the issue. You may also be able to use VDH's regular line of shave soaps as they don't have much in the way of scent as well.

Could be
I'm only having any luck these days with MWF or Arko

There's a Proraso soap (also cream, I think) for "ultra-sensitive skin". The fragrance is "aloe and green tea", and it's _very_ mild.

But, if MWF works for you, why bother with anything else? <g>

Just bought a tub of the Proraso "Green tea and oats"

Sounds like a hippy breakfast to me

I'm in the same boat and have had great results with the previously mentioned new Proraso sensitive soap in the white tub. My lathering technique still leaves a lot to be desired and this stuff still shaves comfortably.

Funny thing i get great problem free shaves 4 or 5 times a month with regular old Proraso but Prorose anything else terns my face into a tomato.

for me, soap was the underestimated factor in a shave. If I had irritation I blamed it on the shave... now it is the primary factor for a great shave... a great shave is built, like everything else, on solid foundations, and a soap that can leave your skin feeling fantastic and irritation free, is where it all starts...Mike's unscented, Mudder Focker, Olivia's natural shaving cream, Prairie Creations unscented soap, and Vitos are the ones that work for me without fail... a few others occasionally leave my face a little irritated, depending on what razor/ blade combo I'm using. The ones that do irritate my face get moved to the headshaving pile... :biggrin1:

Customers that told us they had a reaction to almost any cream or soap, were very satisfied after they had used the Tcheon Fung Sing Cuore di Lavanda. It's the only scent they make with hazelnut oil.

Bye,

Eric
