So, your favorite shaving soap has been discontinued.

What's your back-up soap? What could replace that significant-other-soap that has been cruelly ripped from your life?

Personally, I only have one favorite soap I use 90% of the time and that is Cella. I might have one or two other soaps that I keep in my shave kingdom for anytime use.

If I woke up one morning and found out that my precious Cella has been taken off the market, what would I switch to? Who could replace a fallen King? Step in for the missing patriarch of the royal family?

After my wife gave me a Tabac shave stick as part of a little birthday shaving kit present, it immediately found its new home in my shave monarchy. Beautiful, yogurty lather, slicker than snot, and a gorgeous scent. What could you not love about this protective beast of a soap?

For me, not many soaps have lived up to the hype I've read about them. Cella and Tabac have proved me wrong.

My favorites are Tabac and Mitchell's Wool Fat.

Stirling Lime is up there too.

I found my favorite after it had already been discontinued..... Sir Irisch Moos. Tabac will take it's place when I use up the four sticks of SIM that I have.

I wish I liked the scent of Tabac. It would be my favorite. If C&E Nomad is discontinued, I'll still have Stirling and La Toja.

I guess Harris is my #1. If Harris ever takes the tallow out of their soaps, SRD would then become my #1. With 5 Harris, 4 SRD, 3 Tabac and various other soaps currently on hand, I can survive a discontinuance. Right now the only soap I have that can't be replaced is a Tabac stick.

Tabac is my favorite but only by a hair over speick, Palmolive, mdc, and LA shaving soaps. Mikes and mwf are close behind those. Then cade and strop shoppe. I think I'll be all right

I just started back with soaps & I have about five of the french soaps along with Harris, floris, & pens. I could live with anyone of these. Have not got a did yet. Makes me wonder why I haven't used any for over 20 years.

Cella is my favorite, but if that went the way of the Dodo, then I'll fall back on MWF and TSD soaps with lanolin which I've grown quite fond of.

C&E Sweet Almond Oil
The Body Shop Original Formula (in the beige tub)
Proraso Red with Wheat Germ Oil (not the new re-formulated Red)

I'm sitting on backups of all of these, and I ration them out very, very carefully, using them just for super-ultra-extra special occasions.

Toss up between Harris (Arlington) and La Toja. Both great soaps and both come as sticks. My most often used soap by far is MDC Fougere. I have to give the edge to the tallow soaps for end result, but I end up using MDC more than 50% of the time. Quick lathering, my favorite scent and the feeling of treating myself every morning just make it irresistible

Right now, Tabac is my number one. If I couldn't have it, I would go with Mike's most likely. Although I have some MdC coming so we'll see how that stacks up.

I'm not all that loyal. there are tons of good soaps out there. while I'D hate to see anything I like go, I think I could make do.

I shaved with De Vergulde Hand for 30 years ... I can always return to that if Palmolive is suddenly pulled from the market.
