What's new

So, I screwed up.

My brother re-introduced me to cigars this past month. I've enjoyed the occasional smoke from time to time. I started vaping, and quite enjoy it. I'm done with cigarettes, and have been since December 23rd.

I decided to "go big or go home", and spend a rather large chuck of money on a humidor and lots of cigars. Many I like, some...I don't. I discovered that I REALLY enjoy the Man 'o War Virtue. Of course, this was after I had smoked one 5 Vegas Gold (and ordered a pack of 15 from an "offer" site).

So, I won't have room for all of the sticks I have purchased...

NOW what do I do? I have some Mark Twain and 5 Vegas Gold that I don't really care for. Also, some others. I'll smoke 'em, but it's almost like they would be going to waste.

Do I PIF or sell? Or hold onto 'em...offer them to people who stop by?? (It would seem that...legally...I can't sell them...but I don't have a clue)

Thanks!

Welcome back! Unfortunately, selling or even PIFing tobacco is a no go on B&B. Perhaps you can put them in a ziplock bag and put them in the back of your fridge?

Yep, you can't PIF or sell here. You could always gift them out to friends IRL. For the overflow, you could make a tupador. Get a tupperware container that seals tight, put in a damp paper towel and load the cigars in making sure they dont touch the towel. That should buy you about a month.

I'd save them. Do the tupperware humidor or set up a cooler, and let them sit. Sometimes they do get better, and if not they are handy to give out, or burn while fishing or cutting the grass. I've had many dog rockets that turned into good cigars with some age, and if you can't wait that long, the proper portion of alcohol has the unique ability to improve a cigar significantly.

I think the easiest tupperware setup is just a boveda pack in a tupperware and your set on them without much worry for 2-3 months for pretty cheap.

I am always getting ones that don't fit my taste and just hang onto them. Whenever I have friends over they can have open picking from that selection. If they ask me why they can only select from what I don't like I tell them to go buy their own damn cigars and they'll understand.

I got some Sancho Panza cigars free when I bought my humidor. I found that they were "OK" to me, but they were pretty lacking in overall flavor. In other words, they aren't bad cigars -- I just didn't like them much. When people come over who don't smoke often and want something "mild" I usually recommend one of those for them. Considering the other options in my humidor, those are the least likely to knock them on their back. I view this as a win-win: I get to smoke cigars I like and give out a cigar my guests will enjoy that didn't cost me anything. My humidor is large enough to accommodate a few extra cigars, though.

In your situation, tupperdor until you can give them to new-to-smoking pals sounds like a winning plan.

You may want to keep a few of the "mistakes" in the humidor rather than the Tupperware so it's not quite so obvious that the are getting a guest cigar.

When in doubt, donate 'em to Cigars for Troops. One of our members, hotreds, is involved with the program & can let you know how to get them where they need to go. I would suggest shooting him a quick PM.

Reminds me, I am way overdue to send in a donation.

WOW. I knew nothing of this. Sounds perfect! All of the cigars I have are good, but some just aren't for me. Maybe I should donate them to some guys who could use a 'pick-me-up' and would appreciate them...

thanks Steve!

Never knew about that either. Looks like I know what I'm doing once I get funds back together...:thumbup1:
