Smoke This!..."X" Marks the Spot with a "V".

"Here’s a neat tip for using a V-cutter on round head cigars. This is especially useful if you tend to over-clip and will help prevent your cigars from unraveling, too.

Sometimes, the thin slice made by a V-cutter does not expose enough tobacco on the head to draw a good amount of smoke, especially on ring gauges over 46. To correct this you can make an "X-cut." After making the first V-cut, turn the cigar 90-degrees and make a second V-cut. You'll get more smoke and flavor out of each draw".

Clever! A good friend swears by the V-cut over a guillotine, and has a very cool tabletop cutter to make them with. Next time I'm in his lounge (read: back deck) I shall give this a go.

Any particular reason you are using a v-cut?

I don’t use a V-cut, (I use my small gold penknife to cut a little hole in the cap), but I post these ‘Smoke This’ notes for the benefit our B & B cigar enthusiasts.
