Slick shave

Well, this is my first post to the site. I have been straight razor shaving for about three months now. Still can't seem to get the soap right yet. I use
About five drops of glycerin, TOBS for sensitive skin and to Tabac. Great lather but still hard to get the razor to glide over neck and chin. Cheeks- no problem. Any thoughts. BTW my razor is done by Lynn so I know it is sharp.

Welcome to B&B!! Tabac is a slick soap that provides alot of cushion. Just keep working at it. You have good software, you just need to work on your lathering. Load plenty long, start out thick, and add a little water at a time as you go. Check out some of the lathering tutorials on the site. Good luck!

Welcome to B&B from me as well. I would try more loading time with more water. If you get it right those soaps should be slick as can be but especially TOBS requires an insane amount of water.

TABAC is a lather king. It has never failed me as a DE shaver. May I suggest to you my other favorite soap? Try Scots Pine from Stirling Soap Co. The tallow and lanolin in that soap is super slick for me. I don't know what the other straight razor guys use. I do know that the maker of this soap is a straight razor user himself. Splurge 5 clams on yourself. You wont be disappointed. You will get plenty of advice here. Welcome to B&B! The best collection of gentleman and ladyfolk you will ever find!

Hello Sir and welcome to B&B. It's hard to say from your brief description. It could be a lather issue (and BTW could you post a pic for a better evaluation, please?) or it could be your new razor that, although professionally honed, maybe needs a little touch-up. Have you tried some CrOx on balsa or diamond spray?

Welcome to B&B!
I don't shave with a straight, I use DE blades. When I find that Tabac isn't slick enough, it is usually time to change the blade. Is your straight sharp enough? One other suggestion. If you shower before you shave, put a few drops of warm water on the puck before you get in the shower. It makes lathering much easier, especially if you have hard water.
