skin food

I just got my sample from Geo. F Trumper and I was wondering how to use the skin food?..... is it like an after shave balm?

I have heard some people use as both pre-shave and after shave skin conditioning. I only use after I shave to replenish what ever has been 'scraped' away from the shave. I only use a little, less than a dime size squirt in my palm and my 200 ml bottle still has 75% left after 4 months.

think it ok to use an alchohol based after shave before the skin food or is it best to put it on instead of any aftershave

Use it as an aftershave balm, and like DESkydiver said, also a pre-shave treatment if you wish. I tend to use it for both, but only in small amounts since it is a fairly costly product.

You can definitely put an alchohol splash on before applying the skin food. I tend to do this all the time now.

Use it however you like. As you can see, people have different methods. On the days I use it, I use it as my sole aftershave, following a cold water rinse. As mentioned, it can be used as a pre-shave, but I personally have found it offers little, if any, benefit in that department.

Just shave, rinse and put on. It will be quickly absorbed.

I agree that it offers little in way of a pre-shave. If anything, it helps razor glide, and for this reason you can apply it in between passes also. But it is expensive stuff and I would recommend just saving it for use in the same way as an ordinary after shave balm.

Use after an alcohol based splash if you wish. You only need a little. This stuff lasts forever.

do you have to wash it off your face or is it ok to just shave rinse and put on

That's a personal choice. A lot of people, myself included, simply rinse well following shaving and then apply whatever aftershave we might use that day. Others like to wash their faces with some kind of cleanser following shaving, before putting on an aftershave. There is no right or wrong way to do it. You will find out what works best for you by trying different methods.

I've used it as both a pre and post.
It's not so good IMHO as a pre shave treatment.
Just remember that a little goes a long way.

I use Trumpers Skin Food as a pre-shave treatment and as an aftershave balm.
It really works great in both cases.
My favourite scent is the Lime.

I'm glad someone asked this, I was given a sample from a member when I bought a razor from him.
I was curious as to how to use it as well.

Thanks

I liked the scent of them all, but found when I used it my face was somewhat tacky/sticky.
The end results on my face were good though and helped with minor razor burn.
I like the product, but prefer others like Truefitt or Nivea which dry better on my face.

Have you tried using less? My face was sticky the first time I used it but I used wayyyyy to much. The next time I used it I put just a very little bit on my fingers and worked it in real good and it was a lot better.

I mainly use mine as an ASB and apply it directly after the cold water rinse. It works absolute wonders for me, but it is rather costly

Am yet to try it as a pre-shave...

I'll try less next time, but I didn't think I was using much to begin with.
It doesn't smear around my face as I would prefer, so perhaps if I use a little bit, then splash a small amount of water on it'll make it easier to work with.

I use a little bit, maybe a small pea sized drop...it absorbs vey quickly, doesn't feel oily at all. I was expecting more moisturizing qualities, but it's nice it doesn't feel oily. Subtle, nice aroma (Limes)....those sample packs are a great sales tool, I will probably buy some. :001_smile
