Simpsons Pure badger....whats it like??

Hi guys,
I was looking for a bit of help concerning the hair grades from Simpsons.

Everyone talks about best, two band and super but nobody really mentions the pure grade? I'm looking to buy a Simpsons Case but cant make up my mind which to go for- best or pure? (Never owned a Smipsons but thats about to change!)

I'm def ordering the Simpsons Milk Churn but thought I would try out a Case too.

I have used a Kent BK8 for a while now and fancy something alot smaller and stiffer for soap/face lathering as the Kent is about as useful as trying to whip up a soap lather using a cauliflower

So is the Pure grade stiffer and more scrubby than the Best cos thats what I'm after, any difference in density too???

Kent BK8 is a gorgeous brush with super soft hair...I have the BK4 and it's a cream puff...with no backbone...if you go for a pure, you're getting into some prickly stuff but with tremendous backbone...

I'd suggest a compromise...why not go with the Best grade of hair? Simpsons best is very nice! Very scrubby if you go with a dense brush like the chubby or a colonel...both of which I have...yet soft on the face once wet.

Have you been following the recent post regarding the interest in a group buy...that brush in best would be perfect for your needs I think...they're awaiting a response and should have details shortly...

yeah it is a luxurious brush but it was the first I ever bought....time for a change!!
Its funny you mention the Colonel as it was the first simpson brush that took my fancy, do you have that one in best or two band?
will take a peek at the group buy.

I really recommend the Case in Best. It is my favorite brush out of all I have ever owned or tried. Provided you like a smaller brush, there really is nothing better.

I do mean to try something in Pure at some point too. Beaufort maybe?

Yeah I've got a really small old Kent brush that I picked up from a carboot sale, keep meaning to post up some pics to try and see if anybody knows how old it is!! Anyway back to topic.....twas only after realising the joy of a smaller brush..less waste, easy to move round face and soap destroying that I've decided to to treat myself to a new one!!:w00t:

I 'm a soap user and like feeling the bristles on my face; the pure grade is somewhat rough but I find it acceptable for soap lathering

I would say get the Best. Theres not a big difference in price but its a lot more luxuriously soft. Plenty of backbone too for face lathering! :thumbup1:

My colonel is in two band...but the loft and knot size are absolutely spot on for me...the knot is not too large or too small...

Mostly for soaps John...I have a tiny rotation going so the colonel sees service every few days...I do spend some time massaging my face so when it does get used, it sees some serious face time. It's really nice with creams as well...if you're into smaller knots...this is really an all round performer...

well took the advice and ordered the the Case in Best, heres hoping for good things to come in small packages!!

They most definitely do!

On a serious note, I hope you love this brush as much as I do. It really is an outstanding brush, particularly for the money. Now that I sold my Duke 1 I'm thinking of buying a brush in Pure just to see what I think...

If its not as good as you say you'll have a 16st guy knocking on your door:lol::lol::lol:
Well if you do go for a pure let me know how it goes

The Case Size 1 (and a travel tube) makes a great at home and travel brush. I have some lovely big vintage and new brushes but find myself reaching for the Case 1 Pure or my size 1 vintage Gimbels Pure on a regular basis - both are fantastic for face lathering from soap and the pure grade suits me just fine and isn't prickly in the slightest.
