Simpson's Duke2 in Best and Rooney 1/2 in Super

In another thread I reported that my two new Simpson's brushes had arrived. In a follow-up to that thread James (JaDo) requested a comparison shot of my Duke2 and my Rooney 1/2 in Super. Here is the pic......

As far as my initial thoughts go, the Duke is a wonderful brush and very versatile. I have only shaved once with it but it tore into a puck of T+H soap as if it were designed for nothing else! I'm sure that the Duke will perform as well with cream, but to me the bulb-shaped knot and relatively short loft makes for a perfect "soap-killer". The Rooney, on the other hand, with a higher loft and higher grade of hair is a perfect cream brush for me. The legendary density gets the job done and the tips feel terrifically soft on my face.
So, James, although I don't really favour one over the other they are both going to see plenty of service and I now have a couple of extra brushes in my rotation.

Great run down and a good looking pick of some fine shave brushes!

My vote between the two would be for the Duke 2.

I was surprised how much the 1/2 Rooney splayed (especially in comparison to the Rooney 1/1).

Thank you again, David.
In 15 years of wet shaving, and at least 40 brushes tested from different brands, Simpson's brushes are my absolute favourite, no doubt.
The Duke (I have the Duke 3 Best) is my number 1 choice, of them all.:thumbup1:
