In another thread I reported that my two new Simpson's brushes had arrived. In a follow-up to that thread James (JaDo) requested a comparison shot of my Duke2 and my Rooney 1/2 in Super. Here is the pic......
As far as my initial thoughts go, the Duke is a wonderful brush and very versatile. I have only shaved once with it but it tore into a puck of T+H soap as if it were designed for nothing else! I'm sure that the Duke will perform as well with cream, but to me the bulb-shaped knot and relatively short loft makes for a perfect "soap-killer". The Rooney, on the other hand, with a higher loft and higher grade of hair is a perfect cream brush for me. The legendary density gets the job done and the tips feel terrifically soft on my face.
So, James, although I don't really favour one over the other they are both going to see plenty of service and I now have a couple of extra brushes in my rotation.
