Simpson Handle Coloring

I have a Polo 8, Commodore X3, Harvard H3, and a Duke 2. I had them all lined up together along the side of the bathroom counter and noticed that they all had the same color handle except for the Duke 2.

If you look at this picture and notice the coloring all of the other handles look the same but the Duke is definitely shaded differently. I know that there was a change in manufacturing and I wonder if I have an older Duke.

All of the Simpsons I own, with the exception of the H3, were bought used on BST so I don't know how old or new they are.

Vulfix seems to be using a different material for the handles than the old Simpsons. The handles of Somerset Simpsons are a touch brighter than the more recent Vulfix-made handles. Your Duke could be a vintage brush that has slightly darkened over time. It's difficult to tell from the picture, but if the name is engraved the handle was made by Vulfix. Simpsons used to stamp brushes with "lamp black."
