Simple Green

Had a question about Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner. Was wondering if this is safe enough to clean a gold plated Gillette razor. I do not want it to take of the lacquer. I use it to clean gun parts and think I read one user here was soaking razors in it to clean them up. I just don't want ruin the finish on my Gillette. Any thoughts would be great thanks.

Thats what I have been reading also, just have a ton of simple green around the house. Since I also use it a kitchen cleaner.

Not sure either, I think I may have gotten an orange tint to some areas of the lacquer over gold by using it. I know a Member here mentioned it was citric acid in a cleaner that turned the lacquer orangish, the only two cleaners I used on it were Scrubbing Bubbles and Simple Green. While I'm not positive these didn't have the orange tint before getting here, I'm also not sure the citric acid actually does that (just what I read from one Member, though it seems plausible), I'm also not sure which if either of these contain citric acid.

So, I guess my answer is "maybe"? I certainly wouldn't soak them in it for any length of time.

It has been advised in the past NOT to use simple green because it is super concentrated, and even at 250 parts to 1 diluted is still too strong. Scrubbing bubbles, some soap, bar keepers friend(not sure on that one, but I used it on my chrome before).

Barkeepers friend may be safe for chrome or possibly nickel, but is to abrasive for gold... Simple green is, as mentioned, to strong as well. It will etch aluminum... Stick with scrubbing bubbles.
