Silicon Grease and ink flow help needed

As a part of the FP AD Enablers, I ordered a Cum Laude. Also bought several Knox nibs.
I installed the F nib and plugged in a ink cartridge and the writing experience was fantastic. One of the smoothest nibs and most comfortable pens I own.

i decided to convert it to an eye dropper. The pen came with the correct o-ring. I put a little silicone grease on the threads and filled the pen. Now it is very hard starting and drys out quickly if you are not writing. I took it apart, nib and all, and cleaned it, flushed it and put a catridge back in it. It is still hard starting and drys out quickly. I think some of the silicone grease may have gotten on the feed.

What is the cleaning process to remove all traces of the silicone grease?

This pen is great but the hard starting has me frustrated.

Thanks in advance.

Scrubbing with a toothbrush. I like kitchen 409. Then just rinse it off really well. Grease on the feed is a pain though, but with enough scrubbing and 409 you should be fine. You could soak the feed in that overnight if you have trouble with it.
Good luck.

E: Oh - and be sure there's no grease on the underside of the nib, either. That will hinder flow.
