What's new

Sign of the times? My local Wal-Mart stopped carrying safety razor blades.

They are the only place around to carry quality safety razor blades. Wilkinson Sword blades were really inexpensive. Looks like I can only order online now.

The local drug stores carry their own name brand blades that are horrible. Recommendations on what to do next? Anyone know if I can order blades from walmart online and have them shipped to my store?

They were under $2 for 10 blades.

Thanks

If you're going to order blades from Walmart online, why not just order blades online? They're just as cheap, if not cheaper, and the sky's the limit with selection, plus they come directly to your house. Amazon, Ebay and shaving vendors all have a plethora of options and prices.

Your profile does not say where you are located. You might want to update this so that you can receive better (more location centered) help from other members.

To update your location profile:

1) Click Settings at the top of the page
2) On the left sidebar under My Settings click Edit Profile
3) Scroll down and enter a general location (how specific you want to get is up to you)

Let us know where you are located and someone can send you to another store that carries blades

Astra SPs are one of the most popular DE razor blades these days. Far better than those Wilkinsons. The best deal on Astra SPs I've found is here:

I've recently tried the Voskhods, and they're even better than the Astras, but the Astras last about 5 shaves and the Voskhod's 10, which is about right, cause they're usually twice the price of the Astras. But, I've just discovered you can find some great deals on them, and similarly reviewed blades, Ladas and Rapiras.

What's interesting about your story, though, is that I've recently noticed double edge razor blades turning up at more and more spots around NYC, even regular convenience stores. I get the impression DE shaving is spreading, in that town, anyway.

Clearly it's time to start using a straight razor ;) seriously...looks like you are in Maine? I can tune one up for you and get it in the mail if you are interested.

Last time I was at Walmart there were no wet shaving supplies or DE blades. I can't even find VDH at Walgreens here in central Arkansas.

That seems to depend on the store. The Walmart near me in NNJ still carried VdH brushes, soap, Shave Secret preshave oil, and Wilki blades last I looked.

It still had shaving brushes and Shave Secret. I bought the Shave Secret just to walk out with something.

I just noticed my Walmart stopped carrying Wilkies too. I like the thicker stiff blade and it's convenient if I forgot an online order. Oh well.

In my area, the only blades I can find (other than drug store branded personnas and derby's) are feather/platinum, at the local Sally's beauty supply. I was going to try them until I saw they were $13 for 10.
