Shredding shaving stix

I have read that some of you shred your shave stix. can you enlighten me as to the process of how you do this?
I would like to order more Palmolive and try to put it in a bowl. any way any helpful tips would be great.

I've used a simple cheese grater for this before. Lately though, regardless of the soap, I just use a certain amount of force to press it into the bowl. Even the hard soaps sort of melt into place with enough pressing. Speaking of sticks, I recently did this with one and a half sticks of Arko with no problems.

I do this with Palmolive shave sticks. Just use a cheese grater -- better to get one just for grating soaps. Then I press the shavings into the bowl in layers, wetting each layer slightly. I don't think you have to do that, it just seems to make the soap a little more solid again.

This grater was $3 at Walmart. And the stoneware/china bowl with a nice 4" diameter for loading was $.99.

Don't do it man..... I'm telling ya... don't do it...

Just put the shave stick down and slowly step away from the cheese grater with your hands over your head and we'll all come out of this nice and safe.....

You need to head over to the shave stick brotherhood for a little counseling...

I use a microplane, it shreds soap into light fluffy flakes that are perfect for packing into a mug and ramekin.

Cheese grater works best, a vegetable peeler will work also. Some sticks are soft enough that they can be crushed into a bowl.

Counseling, you say. Gee I didn't relies that this would offend anyone. perhaps I use the stick as a stick and grate some in a bowl to try something new. thus using it both ways.

hey turtle, discover the universe through intricate navel observation sessions yet? hahahaha. hope all's well.

I use my wife's food processor. :)

It makes perfect uniform little b-bs that pack into the bowl nicely. I just got done doing this to a puck of Pre de Provence soap and now it lathers a little better. The hard soaps I've done this to all seem slightly softer and easier to load after this treatment.

The times I've used a cheese grater I ended up with a puck that wore down unevenly. Not the end of the world, but...

Microplane Mini Zester, $2.50, 2 x 4" fits easily in any medicine cabinet, and shaves soap into super thin, curled almost powder-light slivers which are very easy to mold into a tub, and dissolve in seconds into water to make a quick, rich lather. I just got mine and love it. When I want to use a stick soap but not use it by rubbing it directly on my beard to face lather, I find charging a brush with soap directly from a stick to be slow and cumbersome, and you often find you haven't gotten enough soap to generate as much or as thick a lather as you'd wanted. So, being able in a few seconds to shave off some soap into a bowl to generate a quick rich lather is much more convenient. And, if you find your lather wants a bit more soap, just shave off a little more to dissolve into, thicken and extend your lather in a flash.

Cheese grater, then push the shavings into a bowl and wet the top slightly. That was what I did to my arko stick and I love it. I did give the shave stick a try as is, but I just like bowl lathering so much I couldn't resist.

Just remember to wash off the soap before your wife grates cheese.
Mmmmm. Soapy nachos....

Reminds me of the thread where a guy cut up an Arko stick and put it on crackers with a little pepperoni. I doubt it tasted that great but it did make for a good laugh.
