So this morning a did a little experiment. After superlathering Mama Bear's Spicey Lime soap with a tiny bit of Trumper's Lime cream, I shaved the right half of my face with a Trac II (brand new blade), but I shaved the left half of my face with a Fatboy on 5 (Kai blade on its 3rd shave).
I did this because I have been having some irritation issues with the Fatboy lately, especially on the neck, and I began to believe that the Trac II would provide a far superior shave.
I did three passes on each side.
Result? The Fatboy side is actually very slightly better than the Trac II side. I had some irritation on both sides of the neck, but actually slightly more on the Trac II side. HOWEVER, I did get one area of more intense irritation on the lower neck on the Fatboy side. This has been a recurring theme. The whole shave can be great but I might have a 0.5 cm area of irritation/redness, usually on the low neck.
1) I no longer think the Fatboy is inferior to the Trac II.
2) Anybody have any ideas about this problem of small, isolated areas on the low neck that suffer from irritation?
