Should I trim off the long hairs sticking straight out?

Hi all, I'm a relatively new beard grower. Many of my individual hairs stick straight out from my face. Some do angle towards the skin, but many do not. Should I just trim these straight pieces or leave them sticking out?

Welcome to the club, just my opinion use a beard trimmer and start with a longer setting than you think you need, then in a with the grain direction start to trim downward each time lowering the setting until you get just the strays off.

You might try a beard balm or oil to help those strays lay down. One thing that can happen is that unless your beard is extremely full, that trimming will cause your beard to thin out. Additionally try a conditioner to help with getting it to lay down. I have had a goatee for years and still get the occasional spot that needs attention.
