Should I shave, or grow a beard?

B&B is probably the wrong place to ask this question....but I have a dilemma

Next week, Mrs Pumpkin are going up North (to Inverness) for a weeks camping holiday. We're both already a bit too creaky in the mornings anyway, so we're definitely not roughing it! :001_smile We upgraded to a bigger tent last year, so that we've got plenty of space if the weather's bad (it is Scotland after-all). It's also got a fully sewn in groundsheet so no midges!

We're driving up and just using the one camp-site (with great facilities) as a base for the week and I can't decide between:

1/. Take a DE (or 2), soap, brush and all the trimmings, so that I can enjoy relaxed, refreshing shaves every day.

2/. Don't bother shaving all week, so that I can come back to La Casa Pumpkin and enjoy the full luxurious sensation of mowing down a week's growth of beard with a straight.

Taking a straight with me is definitely not an option! Too many rug-rats running around and there's no door to lock...I need an interruption free environment when I'm using a straight :scared:

I know that as I live in a "Benevolent Dictatorship" I should probably find out what SWMBO thinks. However, I know that the fine gentlemen of B&B will be able to give me some great advice (and probably several other options ).

Take a DE. Take a shave stick and a brush. Why deprive yourself? (Besides, I can't stand going more than 3 days without shaving or the itching drives me batty)

I had to skip a day this week due to a power outage, and hated every minute of it

I would take the goodies with me and if I felt like shaving, fine, if not, that's fine too. At least the option would be there...

I kinda like shaving after an extendo-grow. It's an interesting experience seeing the change in your face. Plus I like stopping half way and looking at it, lol.

And, I'm sorry but this thread should have been named "Should I Shave or Should I Grow now?" If you say that you are mine; I'll be here 'til the end of time

I recently spent four days in Yosemite. Didn't bother to shave and didn't have a problem with it. The four day growth goes better with the outdoor activities anyway :001_rolle

I was surprised when I got back home and shaved with my straight though. I haven't let my beard grow that much since I started with DE/straight shaving and I assumed that it was going to be a pain to get rid of it (as it is with an M3). But no, it felt just like a regular shave and the result felt even better than usual

I would just let it grow for the week. If you are planning to go out to a nice restaurant while in Inverness, however, that could swing the decision the other way.

If i did not shave swmbo would tell me i look scruffy, though i get that most of the time anyway:lol: plus if you do encounter those dreaded midges they cant hide in your beard:thumbup:

I'm with the rest, don't bother shaving. Since you're roughing it for a week, might as well go all the way. :001_smile

You're CAMPING! Don't you dare shave! You'll look like one of those women who put on makeup and wear heels to hang out in the woods at the campfire. Leave your routine at home, along with the cellphone, laptop, and all your cares and go camp!

I'll generally be a bit scrathchy and itchy after 3 days, then it tends to settle down as it gets longer.

When camping I do not shave... I think it is acceptable not to on such an occasion

Previously, when we've been camping, I've just gone for the Grizzly Adams look...but that was when I still used cartridges and found shaving a chore at the best of times!

That's where the dilemma comes in...we're not going to be roughing it! This camp site has got a great shower block, with half a dozen sinks backed with a full mirror and "marble" surround....it will be nice to have the space to spread out my kit, I'm used to shaving in a bathroom that hasn't got room to swing a hamster! :w00t:

If you have never grown a beard or if you HAVE to shave for work I'd go for the beard. At the very least it will be a change.

Maybe I like wearing high heels when I'm away from home? :blushing: (Relax, I don't!)

If I do that, how will I get my daily fix of B&B? :001_huh:

Take the shave kit with you and enjoy your shaves, then when you get home you can still enjoy the straight. I say win, win on your part.

How does how Mama feel about "giving sugar" (lovemaking) to someone with an unshaven face? Would she complain about kissing a porcupine or would she want you "rough and ready"?

That would be my criteria for making the decision.:001_huh:
