Shaving with Liquid Hand Soap!

After showering I decided to shave with liquid hand soap! I don't know why it crossed my mind but I gave it a shot. I did my normal prep then put two pumps of Equate Milk and Honey Liquid Soap on a spoon and swiped it with my brush and face lathered.

The result was BBS with no irritation, nicks or cuts! My face felt smooth and very moisturized!

The soap made my Fatboy glide like never before on all the passes (WTG, XTG, ATG, J-Hook)!

It sounds nuts but try it out! :w00t:

You could always use the hand soap that foams when you push down on the dispenser. I think I'll stick with my shaving soaps and creams though, even if I have to use nothing but williams.

hi all
ha ha , over the years i have tried most things when desperate ,travelling normally , hair shampoo , hair conditioner and bar soap , talc , even sun tan lotion .. had some serious issues to with salt water when surfing , probably using blunt blades did not help either .:scared:there is a thread i posted a week or two ago about a bad experience .

On another forum, there was this guy who said he used blue Dawn dish soap (original) to shave his head. He said he it got a great shave from it.

I've been thinking of trying Dawn on my face. It seems to have many of the properties I like. I may even use it to make a superlather or similar. Suggestions welcome.

(Yes, I know this thread is old.)

I used Neutrogena glycerin bar face soap. I is very slick, lathers well and gives a close shave. It is a bit drying, and there is no scent, but it is cheap and it works!

You just had to add to the already endless options in the decision making proccess a whole new line of options to choose from, didn't you. :w00t:

I washed a new Rooney badger brush with some of the foaming Dawn pump soap, thought I rinsed well. I then proceeded to make the best bowl of lather I have, either before or after doing that. I was using T&H cream.

Tonight, I added one drop of Dawn to a snurdle of Bigelow. The lather was very protective, but felt like it had a little less glide. It was a bit drying, too. I'm glad I tried it. I wouldn't shave like that again, though.

Before my renewed interest in high quality, traditional shaving I often used skin lotion to shave when traveling or at the gym. Works fine-

I cleaned a used badger brush using Sunlight dishwashing detergenet once, following the instructions I found here about cleaning brushes and getting the funk out of badgers. I was amazed at the amount and seeming quality of the lather it produced! I was never brave enough to ever shave with it. Ever since, I have wondered whether someone would start a "have you ever" thread for non-shaving shaving soaps.
