Shaving Time Capsule

picture.php

Found this covered up, under some other stuff at an antique store. Never ever gave a crap about stuff like this, but when I found this I felt like I discovered some buried treasure or something. Cool feeling. I don't think there is anything of big value, just some decent shave tools that I am very happy about trying out.

It's a shadowbox... and according to the owner, it hung on a local barbershop wall for many years.

When I found this I only had Rolls Razors and no DE, SE or straight blades, was just out looking for an old DE of some kind. Needless to say I was slightly excited.:w00t:

Would love to hear what you think of it?

Looks great, a little bit of everything in there! I'd like to find a blue blade carrier like that in a local shop

so, how long before you had it opened and were trying them???

Wow! Did it cost you an arm and a leg, or did you get a decent deal?

myself, i probably would have had it opened in the car, checking to see how well everything worked

I opened it in the car!!! haha

I don't think I got a great deal, paid $75 bucks. But I got what I wanted...SE's DE's and straights all in one fell swoop.

I think he was selling it more like a piece of framed art, that he was selling razors. I of course, have no intention of mounting it on a wall.

Nice score!

Will a shaving shadowbox become the next must have shaving den accessory?

Great find!

An instant vintage shave-den!

Congratulations, you really had the Razor-Gods with you!

So far I've tried the Gem Featherweight and the old Gillette Tech and they give great shaves. I need to get the straights honed...I think I will send them to Ambrose, he does amazing work.

Thanks gentlemen...I feel better about spending the money now!!!
