Shaving Stick and TSA

Does a shaving stick pose a problem with TSA? Sort of switching to soaps and considering a shaving stick for travel, but a little concerned about the size and shape of a shaving stick relative to a TSA inspector. Don't suppose it is much different from a tube of cream, but a little concerned it may get confisicated based on appearance. Experiences?

I travel with a shaving stick all of the time.

The problem that I have is to the TSA my travel brush looks like a bottle. Three times in the last year, they pull my carry on from the xray machine. They lecture me that I am not allowed to have liquids in my bag. Each time they pulled out my shave brush and said that it was a liquid.

When I point out to them that it is a brush they tell me that I should still treat it as a liquid because they have problems telling the difference.

More of our upstanding security apparatus in action... Make sure you tell them that it's their job to enforce the rules accurately, not yours to inconvenience yourself because they can't.

How do you treat a brush as a liquid? Is it a weird wrist action, or a new branch of philosophy?

Maybe you just speak to it as if it were an aftershave.

Not to get off my shaving stick question, but are you saying that I am not suppose to have my cologne and aftershave in my carry-on? Last time I travelled by air I had the small bottles of the stuff in a freezer bag like I thought I was suppose to do, and it went through fine! Now I am confused!!

It should not be a problem because it is just soap. They may check it. Last time when I traveled, they pulled me aside because my bars of soap "could be bombs" :001_rolle

Schrodinger's Brush/liquid?

Not looking forward to flying on the 15th.

Ha, Schrodinger. Maybe he does have the answer here. When in the x-ray machine the brush is in a superposition of states. Not until they open your luggage do you see it is a brush. It easily could have gone the other way and TSA is right.

:arf: Dude! Dry the brush first before packing it.

I wanna be sedated!
It won't be long now. I can see this thread being added to a sticky in the clown house. I can think of a good one but the name changes every 10 minutes or so. At this point I do not know what to call it.

when traveling try to take a razor that disassembles. I have been stopped a couple of times so they can make sure there is no blade in the razor....I may highjack a plane with a DE blade...
