Shaving is killing my lower back!

I did not notice it much before, but slowly slowly the pain was creeping up on me. Today it was unbearable. After every shave my lower back kills me!

I paused while shaving only to realize that since the counter is far away from the mirror, and my eyesight is not very good, I am always bending towards the mirror to shave.

So how do you guys deal with it? are your mirrors close to your face when you shave? do you shave with your glasses on? (seems to me like a desperate solution)

I use a round mirror with an elbow, mounted to the wall. Extends about 12/15" from the wall. Magnified on one side. Works like a champ. Not only saves the back but with the magnification improves the shave.

Not quite the same situation as you, but when I had back troubles, I'd put one foot on a stool or lean into the countertop (it was strong enough) and keep one hand on it to steady myself. Another way was to sit down for the actual passes and use a large towel as a bib.

Sharp device, able to inflict injury and pain . . . sensitive body parts . . . mistakes and mishaps in plain view for all to see.

And he wants me to take my glasses off???

:lol::lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

Can't see well enough without 'em to risk the damage!!!

I wear contact lenses, so no problem, but many folks do indeed shave with their glasses on.

As mentioned, the moving wall mirror is a great alternative. Regular one side, magnified on the other.

There are lighted versions as well.

They are often called "Cosmetic Wall Mirrors", so you can buy one, put it in "for SWMBO" and gain bonus points while you're at it!!

Okay, getting back to the OP. Wearing glasses while shaving? Desperate solution? News to me, I have always shaved with my glasses on.

Thanks for your replies all. Much appreciated.

I am really liking the "Cosmetic Wall Mirrors" idea.

eBay time! :)

Yeah, I noticed a pain in my lower back to - turns out it was SWMBOs foot up my *ss. Been to darn many little boxes at the door lately...

I just stood in front of my mirror. If I had to lean into it to see better, I would be getting a backache eventually. Standing straight in front with legs slightly flexed, no problems.

My mirror is about 18" from my face as I shave, no leaning.

Just try something different. Use glasses for a week.

I suffer from the same problem. I have to lean over a 30" vanity to get close enough to my bathroom mirror. I have been contemplating one of those fancy cosmetic wall mirrors myself, just not sure where to find one. I had lasic eye surgery a few years ago, and my near vision has progressively gotten worse ever since. I find that bright lighting helps, but I think that an extendable mirror would be key.
