Shaving cream dispenser

Has anybody tried to fill a standard dispenser for a liquid soap with a shaving cream? I think it should work and might be particularly appreciated by those of us who shaves everyday.

I'd have thought a lot of creams would be too thick for a dispenser to be effective, they don't tend to flow like liquid soaps (perhaps some do, I've not used them all, but in general, from those I've used).

The only shave cream that I've used that would work (I think) is Lucky Tiger. It's thin enough to flow like a liquid soap. All the creams I use wouldn't work.

I like the idea of a dispenser but I agree that there would be very few creams that would work. Most of my creams wouldn't settle to the bottom of a container which is a key bit of the physics required for a soap pump to work. Maybe one of those sealed-unit pumps where the bottom of the container rises as the product is used might work? You'd need a pretty wide tube though.

Proraso seems to be pretty fluid. I think nothing will happen to a cream if some water is added for fluidity, but again , only experiment will tell. Some of us may even prefer one cream to others because of possible use in a dispenser. It would be just damn convenient, IMHO.

The KMF creams come in a pump bottle so I don't see why other products could not be placed in one as long as it is thin enough to be "pumped"

KMF is definitely on the more viscous side of the shave cream spectrum. Other creams might be able to find there way through the pump but I would have to think that the problem would be at the bottom of the container. Like trying to drink a shake through a straw. Most creams are not thin enough to keep a constant flow into the pump. Might be more hassle than simply opening a tube or a tub.

I have not got to the end of my KMF pumps yet but I would imagine I would just turn the uncapped bottle upside down in my scuttle or lather bowl and let good old Mr. Gravity do his work for me :001_smile

I recall reading about someone who tried TOBS, Trumper, and a few other creams in his Latherking machine a few years back.

More info here.

You might check out one of these and see if it would be a winner for tubes of shave cream.
